FLY-OVER LOVE IN A FLY-OVER STATE

Sunflowers collide with dragonflies, mayflies, horseflies, and
everyday country flies
In the desperate fields of Iowa in summertime, after harvest time, a
rare crop of time
Moments before your face emerged from the soil, from the bedrock, the
Midwestern rock
Your eyes stung mine with a humid heat, thirsty for Grinnell showers,
just rain showers
Beads fattened with the wet of seasonal love, fast love, temporal
love, all-too-brief-love
