Wildlife & Landscape Photographer

In late August and September of 1998 and 1999 we at Great Canadian were proud to accommodate photographer Lee Mann on a two private caribou / musk-oxen trips. Prior to 1998, I had not met Lee before - nor was I familiar with his work. During his first trip with us , one evening we were sitting in the kitchen at the wildlife basecamp , and Lee showed us a small portfolio of his published poster work. Having the privilege of working with some of the world's best photographers, I didn't really expect what he showed us - immediately I was drawn into his beautiful, haunting - even mystical view of our natural world as seen through the eyes of a true master. After Lee's trip we received a mystery courier package ... inside was a wonderful gift of mounted print blow-ups that we now proudly display both in our Yellowknife office and in our display booth during our various marketing tours. Thanks for everything Lee! We only hope that this page can do your work justice! |

"The tundra ... yes, the tundra..." |
|
"I didn't think any place could affect me the way mountain environments have affected me, but when I first visited the Serengeti I found I was wrong - and I found I was wrong again when I experienced the barrenlands. In both places one feels the true vastness of the earth." |

"This sense of antiquity and the immensity of space are, to me, a fundamental aspect of the tundra. Adding wildlife to the tundra brings it all to life. Without wildlife, one could dismiss any environment, no matter how beautiful, as merely being scenery. The tundra has it all!" |

"The camp, staff, food all exceeded expectations. I think some yuppie-types have a hard time understanding what a miracle it is that this operation even exists! I think you need to be commended for changing and adapting plans according to changing conditions." |
"Probably, if I were a young man, I would consider going to the barrens and throw my life away, like I'm sure many people think you have... It is a life worth living."" - Lee Mann |
